Antonia Lofaso

Chef Antonia Lofaso's culinary creations are an invitation to dive into deep into her interior world. The food she creates comes from her fascination with the cultural aspects of Los Angeles, which was inspired by a visit from Long Island to Los Angeles from Long Island's suburbs. The belief in the idea that cavatelli and carnitas could coexist seamlessly on the same menu conveys a sensibility which continues to evolve. But what remains in all of her dishes is an unifying vision of the future while achingly recollecting the previous. Scopa Italian Roots was opened in 2013 by Lofaso and is influenced with her Italian American tradition. The restaurant was greeted with the warmest welcome. Lofaso's interpretation of old-school Italian has been acclaimed as one of the most compelling restaurants for Italian cooking located in Los Angeles. Lofaso is described by a lot of people as a local restaurant that consistently serves food that's authentic, delicious and inviting. Lofaso worked as an apprentice to culinary masters, absorbing their techniques and taking risks. She did not hesitate in doing so, merely following her own intuition. She rose quickly through the ranks of Wolfgang Puck's Spago and was able to make a difference in the kitchens of famous chefs in Los Angeles while working closely with numerous celebrities. Lofaso joined forces with Sal Aurora to create Black Market Liquor Bar which was an upscale bar located in Studio City. The home of Lofaso was located within Black Market Liquor Bar and her business alliances. This collaboration would foster the creative freedom Lofaso desired. Black Market doesn't have one distinct focus. It's their goal. It could start with chip dill, followed by shishitos peppers. Next comes the Korean wings and then a meatball course. Antonia, the chef who created this delicious menu full of strong flavors, is the anchor of the whole. Lofaso measures her success over the course of her career based on her ability to get to know her audience well and stay authentic to who she is. The memorable performances on Top Chef Chicago & Top Chef: All Stars highlighted her personality outside the kitchen. The talents of Lofaso are evident in her recurring roles as a the CNBC's Restaurant Startup judge and on the Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen Man vs. Child as well as the ABC's Real O'neals. Lofaso teamed up in partnership with Penguin at the end of 2012 in order to release The Busy Mom's Cookbook 100 Recipes for Delicious Home-cooked Meals. The book describes the challenges she encountered while attending an institution called the French Culinary Institute and raising her daughter Xea. Lofaso believes that all her success is due to her passion of cooking. She is capable of keeping her finger in the middle of the industry through her work on the kitchen.
